Intro
A Problem Shared…

Hi, I’m Tom and I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist, a pre-accredited member of Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), and graduate with a BSc. (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I’ve been practising since 2020 and have experience in helping clients through many of the challenges that any of us may face.
Life can be hard and being a person in the world is complicated. Some experience of anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal issues, attachment issues, or low self-esteem is all but guaranteed. But recovery, change, and growth are possible. Life can be beautiful too.
I approach therapy from a pluralistic perspective, integrating theoretical models including Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy, with the aim of providing a compassionate, collaborative, and truly accepting space.
Empathy, compassion and respect form the bedrock of my practice, provided absolutely without judgement, with the aim of fostering recovery, self-acceptance, and personal growth. So let’s being the process. If you’re here, maybe it’s time.
Services
In person and online…
I offer individual counselling and psychotherapy for adults.
Person-Centred Therapy
Person-Centred Therapy focuses on you as the only true expert on you and your lived experience. It’s not about being told what to do, it’s about using the space to safely explore your thoughts and feelings and, in doing so, tap into the wisdom, strength and courage you already have within.
By doing so you can find the self-acceptance, confidence and ability to make choices that are right for you.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an evidence-based, collaborative and structured approach in which we seek to identify and change negative thoughts and behaviour patterns.
CBT works by helping you understand the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and actions and find ways of breaking the cycles we wish to be free of.
Recovery from Trauma
Traumatic experiences, old or new, can effect us deeply, leaving us to deal with difficult memories, intrusive thoughts and deep emotional pain.
Through therapy we can begin to address the impact of these experiences, find ways of healing and recovering, and come back to healthy emotional regulation and well-being.
Grief Counselling
A life fully lived is all but guaranteed to include the experience of loss. It is the price we may some day pay for love.
The loss of a loved one or end of a valued relationship can wound us, shock us, leave us devastated and lost. But recovery from despair, anger and confusion is possible. It’s not about “moving on”, it’s about finding ways to incorporate the experience of grief, heal and continue our lives.

What’s the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy?
Generally speaking, counselling is used to refer to a shorter period of engagement, focused on a specific issue source of difficulty, often related to the here-and-now.
Psychotherapy may be used to refer to the work we do to explore deeper seated issues or those that have their origin in the past.
In practice, there’s no bright line between the two, or any real need to make a distinction as we work together to explore and address you experience.

Yes. Everything discussed in session is treated with the utmost confidentiality allowable under Irish law.
If you have any questions or concerns on this, I’m always ready to clarify how this works.

Not at all. Before we begin we can talk about your expectations, goals and what could meet you needs.
From there, we can talk about the paths forward and decide how best to proceed. And we can always adapt and modify how we work together to achieve your goals.

That your choice to make, and you don’t have to decide ahead of time. We can talk about it.
