About your therapist
Hi, I’m Tom Blennerhassett
I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist, an Accredited Member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), and a graduate with a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I’ve been practising since 2020, helping clients through many of the challenges that any of us may face.
I work from a pluralistic perspective, integrating Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy to provide a compassionate, collaborative and truly accepting space. Empathy, compassion and respect form the bedrock of my practice — offered without judgement.

How I can help
Support for the challenges any of us may face
For most of us, some experience of anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal issues, or low self-esteem is all but guaranteed. Recovery, change and growth are possible — and life can be beautiful too.
Anxiety & Stress
Finding steadier ground when worry, tension or overwhelm take hold of daily life.
Low Mood & Depression
Gentle support to lift the weight of low mood and reconnect with what matters to you.
Trauma & Recovery
Carefully addressing the impact of difficult experiences and moving towards healing.
Grief & Loss
Compassionate space to process bereavement and the end of valued relationships.
Interpersonal Challenges
Understanding relationship and attachment patterns to build healthier connections.
Personal Growth & Development
Exploring self-acceptance, confidence and the changes you’d like to make in your life.
A welcoming space
A calm, private place to be heard
Whether we meet in person or online, my aim is for you to feel safe, comfortable and unhurried. The room is a quiet, confidential space where you can take your time, speak openly, and be met without judgement.
If you’d prefer to meet from home, online sessions offer the same warmth and privacy at a time that suits you.

Individual counselling & psychotherapy for adults
Person-Centred Therapy
This approach focuses on you as the only true expert on your own lived experience. It’s not about being told what to do — it’s about safely exploring your thoughts and feelings and tapping into the wisdom, strength and courage you already have within.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
An evidence-based, collaborative and structured approach to identifying and changing negative thought and behaviour patterns — helping you understand the link between thoughts, feelings and actions, and break the cycles you wish to be free of.
Recovery from Trauma
Traumatic experiences, old or new, can leave us with difficult memories, intrusive thoughts and deep emotional pain. Therapy can help address their impact, find ways of healing, and return to healthy emotional regulation and well-being.
Grief Counselling
The loss of a loved one or the end of a valued relationship can leave us devastated and lost. Recovery is possible — not about “moving on”, but about finding ways to incorporate grief, heal, and continue our lives.

Questions & answers
Frequently asked questions
How are the therapy sessions conducted?
Sessions take place either in person at my practice in Clongriffin, Dublin 13, or online by secure video call — whichever feels more comfortable and convenient for you. Both options offer the same warm, confidential space.
How long is each session?
Each session lasts 50 minutes, the standard therapeutic hour. We usually meet at the same time each week to give our work a steady rhythm.
What commitment is required?
Therapy works best with regular, ongoing sessions, so most people attend weekly. There’s no fixed contract, though — we’ll agree what suits you and review it together as we go.
How much does therapy cost?
The standard fee is €70 per session. Low-cost therapy is available for full-time students and those in receipt of Jobseeker’s, Illness or Disability support. The initial 30-minute consultation is free.
Will our sessions be treated confidentially?
Yes. What you share is treated in the strictest confidence. As an accredited member of the IACP, I work to a professional code of ethics; the only limits to confidentiality are the rare circumstances where there is a serious risk to your safety or that of another person, which I would always seek to discuss with you.
Do I have to choose the kind of therapy I want beforehand?
Not at all. I work from a pluralistic, integrative perspective, drawing on Person-Centred Therapy, CBT and Psychodynamic Therapy. Together we’ll find the approach — or combination of approaches — that fits you and what you’d like to work on.
For how long should I expect to attend?
This varies from person to person. Some people come for a short, focused piece of work; others value longer-term support. We’ll review your progress regularly so that therapy continues for as long as it’s helpful to you.
Who can benefit from therapy?
Therapy can help any adult facing the challenges life brings — whether anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or simply a wish to understand yourself better and grow. If you’re wondering whether it’s right for you, a free consultation is a good place to start.
